Carrefour has developed in China for 20 years. By the end of 2015, we have 228 hypermarkets and 10 convenience stores in over 60 cities with more than 60,000 employees. Since the establishment of the first store – Beijing Chuangyijia in 1995, Carrefour has been enrooted in the Chinese market. We have not only witnessed the reform of China’s retail industry, but also contributed to the rapid development of Chinese society with practical actions. We are sincerely grateful for your support and company during the twenty years’ development.
As a multi-format, multi-channel and multi-local retailer, Carrefour keeps innovating and continues to develop projects such as modern logistics distribution centers, convenience stores, e-commerce and energy saving.
Carrefour is committed to providing quality products and convenient services for Chinese consumers. Through this Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report, I wish you can learn more about the actions and efforts made by Carrefour to ensure its social responsibility, as well as willingness and determination to innovate.

1. Provide safe and healthy food for all
Carrefour China wishes to contribute to providing safe and healthy food for all. This process begins with the traceability of fresh products, and the establishment of laboratories to test those products. Further, our Direct Purchase program not only enhances the quality of the products, but also lowers prices while improving farmers’ revenues. In addition, we have established Carrefour China Foundation for Food Safety in order to promote safe, healthy food and organize training.
2. Provide career development opportunities for our people
At Carrefour, we aim to provide strong and valuable career opportunities to our teams. We provide our employees with annual training programs and promotions, and we are also developing partnerships with China’s universities to expand our talent resources and provide job opportunities for students.
